The Redland Museum is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation. Volunteers are involved in every aspects of the Museum from the conservation and restoration of items, to cataloguing, creating displays, guiding, assisting at events, property maintenance, research and much more.
You don’t have to be an expert in local history; very few of us were before volunteering at the Museum. All you need is a friendly attitude and a willingness to work within a team. We will welcome you, guide and support you while you learn the rest.
How many hours will I have to work a week?
Volunteers don’t work on an hour’s per week basis, but are asked to complete 48 hours per year.
How much does it cost to join the Museum?
To be a volunteer you must be a member. General membership costs $20.00 for individuals and $30.00 for couples. After one year volunteer membership reduces to $10.00 and $15.00 respectively.
Will I have an orientation and ongoing training?
Yes. All volunteers get an orientation including workplace health and safety, plus specific training if you decide to join one of our specialist teams. You also have the opportunity to attend other training activities provided during the year.
