VOLUNTEER WITH US

Are you interested in local history or looking for something new?

Why not join us?

The Redland Museum is a not-for-profit, volunteer run organisation. Volunteers are involved in every aspects of the Museum from the conservation and restoration of items, to cataloguing, creating displays, guiding, assisting at events, property maintenance, research and much more.

You don’t have to be an expert in local history; very few of us were before volunteering at the Museum. All you need is a friendly attitude and a willingness to work within a team. We will welcome you, guide and support you while you learn the rest.

Frequently asked questions:

Volunteers don’t work on an hour’s per week basis, but are asked to complete 48 hours per year.

How much does it cost to join the Museum?
To be a volunteer you must be a member. General membership costs $20.00 for individuals and $30.00 for couples. After one year volunteer membership reduces to $10.00 and $15.00 respectively.

Yes. All volunteers get an orientation including workplace health and safety, plus specific training if you decide to join one of our specialist teams. You also have the opportunity to attend other training activities provided during the year.

“The Museum is a large and important community organisation and it needs a lot of volunteers. All the volunteers at the Museum are like-minded people wanting to do their bit. It is always a pleasure volunteering with them as they are a great bunch of people.”
Jim, Redland Museum Volunteer for 10 years
