Following an outline of funding to commemorate the 1914-18 war a number of community groups have met with the Redlands’ Mayor and the City Council to put forward their ideas for grants. The Redlands’ University of the Third Age has combined with the Cleveland Library and the Redland Museum to collect picture records of any Redlands’ memorabilia.
If you can help, you may ring Bill James from the U3A Camera club on 38212624 or the Museum on 32863494 or the Cleveland Library on 38298770.
The collected phone records will then be rung back to arrange for times to bring your items to the Redlands’ Museum where Camera Club and Museum experts will photograph them, while held on loan and insured before return to you. The Cleveland Library trained staff will then record digitally the items collected
The Digital Redlands’ First World War Record will then be available in local libraries, school libraries and for students working on assignments.
Some U3A “Life in Australia” group members have already signed up to join the venture, but we urgently need to start recording so we can have our first display in the Faith Lutheran College Hall on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, 11th November.
Let’s show our support to these three Community groups and ring now to let the project get under way. John Butters. Founding President of U3A.
