Louisa Lawson

Popular folk singer and performer Maxine Chisholm plays Louisa Lawson – mother of Henry Lawson and a notable woman, activist and writer. Despite a hard upbringing she developed her artistic and literary skills to support the suffragist cause – and her son’s writing – with the women’s magazine The Dawn. This piece was adapted from the role Maxine plays in Phyl Lobl’s acclaimed Dames and Daredevils for Democracy.
