Boss
G.J.Walter – Cleveland Businessman and Shire Chairman
The museum has a comprehensive archive of the family memorabilia of G.J. Walter, donated by his great granddaughter Annette Marsson.
Together with information derived from an interview with Annette by our researcher Sandra Davis, this exhibition honours his contribution to the Redlands.
Known affectionately as ‘Boss’ the exhibition follows the career of this Master Baker and for many years Redland Shire Chairman, respected by his peers.
G.J’s foresight ‘got things done’, raising funds to build a hospital and the Memorial Hall. His casting vote brought down a Councillor’s suggestion that we merge with Brisbane.
Redland Museum acknowledges the Quandamooka People, the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters where we work.
We acknowledge their Elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in our Community.
