Redland Museum is a membership organisation, incorporated not-for-profit under the Incorporation Act and registered as a deductible gift recipient. Its members are its owners. The classes of membership comprise Ordinary members (individual, volunteer and life members); Associated members (community and school groups, corporate, business, and honorary). A general meeting of members is held once a month (first Tuesday of the month at 8.30am) and all are welcome to attend and enjoy a social morning tea afterwards.
Redland Museum is managed by a volunteer Management Committee that consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and no less than two or more than four other members. Redland Shire Council may nominate an elected member and an officer of the Council to attend the meetings as observers and consultants. The Management Committee meets once a month (second Thursday of the month) or as required.
Our Organisation Chart shows the Management Committee and the organisational elements which contribute to the functioning of the museum. The museum volunteers are mainly people retired from working life with a wealth of knowledge and experience in a broad range of disciplines. To take advantage of this, a number of sub-committees have been formed to advise management and oversee activities in their specialist areas. They meet informally on a needs basis, and each includes a leader and a member of the Management Committee.
Redland Museum employs a full-time Manager, 2 part-time Administration Officers on job share basis, and a part time Events Coordinator. The Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the museum including visitor services with the assistance of the Administration Officers. The Event Coordinator is responsible for initiating and implementing events and activities to attract visitors to the museum. Further details of the organisational elements are contained in the Brief Explanation which accompanies the Organisational Chart.
